3Strands Global, an organization dedicated to raising funds, building awareness and providing jobs and education to fight human trafficking has joined forces with partners around the world to launch the “It’s NOT OK—Do Something” campaign. 3Strands Global invites individuals and organizations to help raise awareness and funds through a simple social media campaign to help combat human trafficking.
“Around the world, more than 35 million individuals are enslaved today,” said 3Strands Global CEO Jennifer Bulotti. “Approximately two million of these individuals are children forced into the sex trafficking trade. This has to stop.”
The mission of 3Strands Global is to unite and mobilize a global community of individuals and organizations to combat human trafficking through sustainable employment, education and engagement initiatives.
The “It’s NOT OK—Do Something” campaign is designed to unify a global community to fight human trafficking. Supporters around the world are asked to say “It’s NOT OK” by texting “DO SOMETHING” to 56316 to make a donation, or join the 3Strands community.
3Strands Global has garnered support from anti-trafficking organizations around the world including celebrities, artists, partnering organizations and community groups.
Support and funding generated from the “It’s NOT OK” campaign will:
- Help provide employment and support for the survivors of human trafficking and at-risk individuals
- Support prevention efforts through education in communities across the U.S.
- Engage communities to take a stand against human trafficking to support rescue and restoration efforts
In 2014, 3Strands Global was featured in the documentary “Every Day In Cambodia,” A CNN Freedom Project, hosted by Actress Mira Sorvino, the UNODC Goodwill Ambassador for Global Fight against Human Trafficking. The documentary was recently awarded Best Documentary at the 2014 Asian Television Awards and provided a spotlight on the issue.
