In 2019, Agder Energi Ventures invested in the company and have subsequently become the majority shareholder. Eco Stor also offers solutions for battery energy management systems, before the meter or after, enabling full control at different levels of the power grid.

The company was founded by Rune Nystad in 2011 and is headquartered in Narvik, Norway.
