Meccano was founded as a center of technological innovation for small businesses and industrial engineering sector within the PIM-Marche Region. It is a service center for small and medium industry to promote, activation and coordination of innovation in industry. Meccano has a structure formed by highly skilled technicians and the latest technologies. The Centre works in collaboration with experts from corporations, universities and national scientific institutions. This leads to a constantly updated stream of scientific and technological know-how on innovation in engineering. Improving the efficiency, competitiveness and productivity in enterprises is determined by the introduction of innovative technologies that require a process driven integration. Meccano is proposed as a reference point for the development of applied research, and to that end part in the main European initiatives. Meccano also work on quality issues for the engineering sector as a testing laboratory accredited by the International Organization for Standardization / WELAC and as a center of expertise for certification to ISO 9000.
