I have spent most of my business career providing operational support and professional services in accounting and finance.
My primary emphasis has been in the negotiation, structuring and tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and leveraged buyouts.
From 1978 to 2001, I was President of the CPA firm of Shenkin, Kurtz Baker & Co. which was sold to CIBZ, Inc. (NYSE: CBZ).
From 1995 to 2010 I was a member of the board and chairman of the audit and finance committee of HCA-Health One in Denver and am currently a member of the community board of Wells Fargo, N.A.
I am a member of the board of directors of CIBER, Inc. (NYSE: CBR) where I serve as Chairman of the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Compensation Committee.
Since November 2009, I have also been a member of the board and Chairman of the audit committee of Pembrook Mining Corp., a privately-held, Canadian based international mining company with principle operations in South American and Mexico.
I helped form and was a partner in the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club and have been very active in the real estate, communication and healthcare industries.
I am a Co-Managing Member of Mankwitz Kurtz Investments, LLC, a Denver based private equity firm, which I formed in 2001.
In 2008, I formed Kurtz Financial, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in restructuring, turnarounds and mergers and acquisitions advisory services.
