Profile
Dr. Pescovitz was named president and chief executive officer of Riley Hospital for Children in September 2004.
She continues to serve as the executive associate dean for research affairs at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
In August 2007, Indiana University President Michael A.
McRobbie appointed her as interim vice president for research administration for the university.
Dr. Pescovitz is the Edwin Letzter Professor of Pediatrics and professor of cellular and integrative physiology at the IU School of Medicine.
She served as the director of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology at IU School of Medicine and Riley Hospital from 1990 to 2004.
She has published more than 175 manuscripts that primarily focus on elucidating the physiologic and molecular mechanisms responsible for disorders of growth and puberty, with a focus on development of novel therapies for these conditions.
As a physician, Dr. Pescovitz continues to see young patients in her specialty of endocrinology, the hormone-producing system that controls growth and development, reproduction and other bodily systems.
Awards include a Research Career Development Award from the NIH, Indiana University School of Medicine's highest Teaching Award, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine, recognition as one of the nation's Top Doctors and as a Power Player in Indianapolis, the iWOMAN Trailblazer Award, the Women and HiTech Award and the Health, Medicine & Life Sciences 2006 Torchbearer Award from the Indiana Commission for Women.
Dr. Pescovitz serves on the United Way Board of Directors as well as on its executive committee and on the boards of the Herron School of Art and the Borns Jewish Studies program at Indiana University.
