Matt joined GEAM in October 1992 as Vice President & Associate General Counsel and served as GEAM's Senior Vice President & General Counsel - Asset Management Services from February 1997 until July 2007, when he assumed his current role.
During that same period, Matt additionally served as Senior Vice President & General Counsel - Asset Management Services for the GE Asset Management Services division of GE Financial Assurance.
GEAM is the global investment management arm of General Electric Company (GE).
Prior to joining GE, Matt was a senior associate attorney in the New York office of the international law firm, Baker & McKenzie, specializing in financial services and investment management.
He started his career in New York pursuing the same field of practice at the law firm, Spengler Carlson Gubar Brodsky & Frischling.
He is a current member of the New York City Bar Association Committee on Investment Management, the Rules Committee of the Investment Company Institute and the Institutional Investor Legal Forum.
He is a former member of the Securities Committee of the New York County Lawyers' Association.
Mr. Simpson received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1986, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 with a BA in Political Science.
