Mr. Shannon came to Murphy Capital Management in 1990 after a 15-year career in commercial banking.
Mr. Shanno's banking career included a variety of assignments.
He started with Bank of America’s Edge Act bank in New York City, where he was involved in import/export trade financing.
Following that he went to Chase Manhattan Bank and worked there for eleven years as a lending officer in both its corporate and middle market banking divisions.
While in the corporate banking divisions he managed relationships with large consumer goods companies, particularly retailers.
He led the bank’s participation in a syndicate loan to May Department Stores to finance its acquisition of Associated Dry Goods.
While in the middle market banking division, he held two positions, one concentrating on the bank’s financing of jewelers, and the other concentrating on the banks financing of mid-sized companies in New Jersey.
Mr. Shannon graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA degree and received an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business in 1975.
