John William Derrick

Mr. John W.
Derrick, CFA, is a Director at CFA Society of San Antonio and Equity Portfolio Manager at Matterhorn Capital Management LLC.
He serves as the co-portfolio manager for all of Matterhorn’s growth strategies, is co-manager for all blended strategies, and is a senior member of the firm’s investment committee.
Mr. Derrick formerly was the Director of Research and Portfolio Manager for U.S.
Global Investors, Inc., where he managed the day-to-day operations of the portfolio management team and had daily oversight over five mutual funds.
Prior, he was the firm’s Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, managing two money market funds and two muni bond funds.
Prior to U.S.
Investors, Mr. Derrick worked in sales and marketing at Fidelity.
He has more than 15 years of experience managing domestic and global investment strategies.
Mr. Derrick received his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
He has been a board member of the CFA Society in San Antonio since 2009 and is its past president.
