Jesson Chen

Mr. Jesson Chen co-founded Quark Venture LP in 2016 and to date, under his leadership, Quark Venture LP has established comprehensive collaborations with top R&D institutions and transnational medical centres world-wide, has completed investments in several companies and has forged strategic partnerships with key investment banks and securities companies.
An investment in Shanghai Shu-Xin Biotechnology Inc., which is developing a novel strategy for a rapid gene-diagnostics of food for medical purposes, is poised for an IPO and is valued at over 80 million RMB (Chinese Yuan).
He started his business career in the energy sector and in 1994 was appointed General Manager of a Sichuan-based import/export company.
To date, Mr. Chen has invested over $200 million CAD in Canadian real estate, oil/gas and TSX-listedbio-energy companies.
He also actively invested over 1 billion RMB in mining, real estate, tourism, finance and high-tech in China.
In 2010, together with CITIC Capital, CCB International, CDH Fund, and Temasak Holdings, Mr. Chen participated in the reformation investment of the largest national guaranty company in China – China National Investment and Guaranty Corporation.
In addition, one of Mr. Chen’s companies was awarded the highest credit grant from National Development Bank of China among the private companies in Sichuan province.
Mr. Chen is also a philanthropist and in 1995 established the charity foundation ‘the Jesson Youth Development Fund” which focuses on funding students in poverty through school and university.
When in the energy sector building hydro-power stations, he funded over 10 million RMB in construction projects for local roads, schools, hospitals, and nursing homes.
In 2005, Mr. Chen holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from the Economic Department of Sichuan University, an MBA from Sichuan College and an Executive MBA from Southwest University of Finance Economics.
