James A. Johnson

James A. Johnson is currently the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer at Johnson Capital Partners since 2001.
He is also the Chairman-Emeritus at The John F.
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Vice Chairman at The Kennedy Center Corporate Fund, a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Inc., a Member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, a Member of The Trilateral Commission, the Treasurer & Member of American Friends of Bilderberg, Inc. since 2013, a Council Member of The National Museum of African American History & Culture, and a Member-International Council of Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs.
Previously, Mr. Johnson served as the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Federal National Mortgage Association from 1991 to 1998.
He was also the Vice Chairman of Perseus LLC, Chairman-Emeritus of The Brookings Institution, and a Director of TEGNA, Inc. He served as a Director of KB Home from 1992 to 2008, TIN LLC from 2000 to 2007, and UnitedHealth Group, Inc. from 1993 to 2008.
He was an Independent Director of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. from 2011 to 2019 and a Director of Target Corp.
from 1996 to 2011.
Additionally, he served as an Independent Director of Forestar Group, Inc. from 2011 to 2015 and is currently an Advisor at 213 Management LLC.
Mr. Johnson holds a graduate degree from Princeton University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota.
