Profile

Prior to joining Pacific Life in 1995, Dr. McMillan's career began in 1975 as an actuarial assistant at Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance in Los Angeles.
He left in 1977 to attend graduate school and in 1982 was appointed Assistant Professor of Finance at the Graduate School of Management of the University of California, Irvine where he taught economics and finance.
In 1989, he moved to Washington, D.C.
to work for the United States Securities & Exchange Commission as a financial economist preparing financial market regulatory and policy studies.
In 1991, he returned to Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance where he was responsible for asset-liability management of the universal life, term life, and whole life insurance products.
Dr. McMillan is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and the Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA).
Dr. McMillan received a B.A.
in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Iowa in 1975 and an M.A.
and Ph.D.
in Economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1980 and 1982 respectively.
