Hatem Alaa

Mr. Hatem Alaa, CFA, is a Managing Director & Head of Consumer and Healthcare at EFG-Hermes Securities Brokerage.
Together with Nada Amin, they cover a diverse range of consumer-related (discretionary, retail and staples) and healthcare stocks in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.
Mr. Alaa joined EFG Hermes in 2011 and worked on four IPOs (Egypt snack company Edita in 2015, Egypt white cheese producer Domty in 2016, UAE fuel retailer ADNOC Distribution in 2017 and Egypt garment exporter Dice in 2017.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked for five years at HC Securities and Investment as a sell-side Analyst, where he led a team that covered a number of diversified sectors in the MENA region, including consumer, logistics, transportation, steel and oil and gas.
Mr. Alaa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo (AUC).
