George Anthony Bicher

Mr. George A.
Bicher is a Portfolio Manager at SSgA Funds Management, Inc. He oversees all investment efforts involving active-managed developing markets equity portfolios, including the Global Emerging Markets Equity and China Equity strategies.
He also serves as Senior Portfolio Manager for the Global Emerging Markets Equity strategy.
He joined SSGA in July 2016 through its acquisition of GE Asset Management.
At GEAM, he was Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager of Global Emerging Markets equities.
Prior to that role, he was Chief Risk Officer of GEAM and Trustee for the GE Pension Trust since in 2011.
In earlier positions at the firm he was a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager, managing several portfolios in Global and U.S.
equities.
He was also GEAM’s Director of Research – U.S.
Equities following a role as a U.S.
equity research analyst.
He has been in the investment industry since 1984.
Earlier in his career, he held roles as a Managing Director in equity research at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown and a variety of positions at Salomon Brothers, Drexel Burnham, and Kidder Peabody involving corporate bond research, investment banking, and equity research.
He began his career as a bank examiner at the U.S.
Treasury, Comptroller of the Currency, before moving to the private sector.
He holds an MBA from Boston University and a BS/BA from West Virginia University.
