Profile
David participates in and often leads the scientific and clinical portions of the Tullis investment process.
He is also chair of the THI Advisory Board.
David is the David Paige Smith Professor of Dermatology and Surgery as well as founder and section chief of Dermatologic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at the Yale School of Medicine.
For 15 years David was chief executive officer of the Yale Medical Group, the faculty physician group at Yale that numbered 1200 doctors.
David is widely credited with transforming the faculty practice into a competitive, nationally recognized physician practice group.
He also served as deputy dean for clinical affairs of the Yale School of Medicine for almost a decade.
David was the lead executive in developing the electronic medical record and strategies for clinical practice growth, affiliated practice development, and clinical trials.
David continues to operate two to three days a week, performing Mohs surgery and plastic reconstruction.
His book, Total Skin, is a national consumer reference on skin health.
David has served as a consultant to a variety of companies including Merck, Bayer, Energizer and smaller companies in the cancer, skin disease, and consumer goods sectors.
David is a trustee of the Hopkins School in New Haven, Connecticut; a member of the board of directors at BiologicsMD, Firststring, and Skinosive; a board observer at DocMatter, Inc.; and a scientific advisory board member at Dermasensor.
He was previously a board observer at TriSalus Life Sciences.
After graduating with honors from Yale College, David returned to his hometown of Montreal and received his medical degree from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in 1981.
