David B. Matias

David B.
Matias is the Founder and Managing Principal of Vodia Capital and serves as the firm’s portfolio manager.
David is also the Founder and Managing Partner of Vodia Ventures, a family of venture funds focused on early-stage investing in social impact technologies.
Prior to founding Vodia Capital in 2004, David was a partner at MarchFirst/Mitchell Madison Group in their Securities Practice.
He opened their Boston and Paris offices and specialized in securities trading and risk management.
His prior experiences include CFO of several startups, Senior Audit Associate at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC), and three years as a frame-to-finish carpenter in the Boston area immediately prior to founding Vodia.
David graduated cum laude from Amherst College with a bachelor’s in Political Science and received his master’s from MIT Sloan School of Management in Financial Engineering and Economics.
His graduate thesis, on the adaptation of the Black-Scholes Merton derivative pricing model for inflation derivatives, was written jointly with the Harvard Business School and Bridgewater Associates.
David attended Concord Academy and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Massachusetts.
David and his dog, Phoebe, are long-time residents of Concord, Mass.
Both David and Phoebe are avid cross-country skiers and life-long soccer fanatics.
