Mr. Pestre joined the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec's Fixed Income department in 1997, where, from 1997 to 2003, he built and managed a fixed income relative value hedge fund.
During that period, he held the titles of Portfolio Manager, Director, Senior Director and Associate Vice-President.
Mr. Pestre was appointed Executive Vice-President, Absolute Return, in November 2003.
Before joining the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Mr. Pestre spent eight years on Wall Street in Fixed Income trading and research.
At Crédit Lyonnais Securities (now Calyon) from 1994 to 1997 he worked structured Fixed Income products.
At Lehman Brothers from 1989 to 1994 he developed fixed income analytics for the Mortgage Backed Securities and Fixed Income Syndicate businesses.
Prior to working in Finance, Mr. Pestre worked in France in management positions in real-time software systems development for Thomson-Syseca (1983-1987), and in cartographic engineering for Institut Géographique National (1978-1983).
Mr. Pestre received a Master of Science from École Polytechnique (Paris) in 1976, and a Cartographic Engineering degree from École Nationale des Sciences Géographiques (Paris) in 1978.
