Mr. Bomani Howze is Program Officer at The Heinz Endowments.
He joined The Heinz Endowments in 2007.
Prior to The Endowments, he was vice president of the Mental Health Association of Allegheny County, where he was responsible for the overall program and financial management.
He began his professional career as a public school teacher in an economically depressed neighborhood in Norfolk, Va.
During his four years there, he helped implement innovative reforms that dramatically improved student achievement.
He later introduced some of the same initiatives in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, where he worked as a teacher in the Pittsburgh Public Schools for six years.
He also owned a landscape design and installment company for several years.
Mr. Howze received a Master of Business Administration from Point Park University in 2006.
His undergraduate studies were at Norfolk State University.
He also studied in several countries around the world as an international/interdisciplinary studies fellow with the University of Pittsburgh’s Semester at a Sea program.
