(Alliance News) - Zenova Group PLC on Tuesday said production of its FX500 fire extinguisher has begun in the UK and US, with the first orders placed and paid for by its sub-distributor.

The Essex-based fire safety and thermal insulation products provider said its sub-distributor in the US, Omnis LLC, has placed an initial order for 7,500 units of the FX500 mini fire extinguisher following a "very successful trial".

Omnis President Beau Preston said: "We are excited to be involved with such an exciting product and fully expect the FX500 will do well in the USA, hence our initial order and investment in retail, logistics and commercial sectors. Feedback has been very positive following a successful product launch at the end of 2022 in California at the Anaheim disaster trade show".

In the trial, the FX500 extinguished a lithium fire, Zenova said. According to the company, the FX500 is safe to use on any type of fire and can operate at -10 degrees Celsius.

Zenova Chief Executive Officer Tony Crawley said: "Following the production in the UK to service Europe it is encouraging news for the USA production and sales to begin simultaneously, enabling a key marketing campaign to begin early 2023 across multiple regions in unison.

"The FX500 will be the catalyst product in the FX range to build awareness and brand recognition ahead of the other planned FX fire extinguisher product launches in 2023"

Zenova shares were up 14% trading at 11.99 pence per share on Tuesday morning in London.
