WGL (WGL Holdings, Inc. - NYSE: WGL) is announcing significant changes in its approach to the market, demonstrating the iconic company’s focus on providing diversified and tailored energy solutions to consumers, government entities, and large and small businesses. WGL, the parent company of Washington Gas, WGL Energy (formerly Washington Gas Energy Services and Washington Gas Energy Systems), WGL Midstream and Hampshire Gas, has updated its sales strategy and established a new logo, tagline and design that will be visible across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and the nation. WGL intends to operate its businesses in a cohesive and comprehensive team and brand, consistent with regulatory requirements.

“WGL was founded with the purpose of improving the quality of people’s lives. Today, we have changed the way we do business to lead the nation’s energy marketplace,” said Terry D. McCallister, Chairman and CEO of WGL. “As the range of energy options continues to become more and more complex, WGL will work to provide the right answers that make energy easy for our customers.”

With a focus not only on continued growth and investment opportunities, but also on ways in which the company can provide solutions in the energy space, the WGL transformation includes a fitting new tagline – Energy Answers. Ask Us. Recognizing that energy markets are growing increasingly complex, WGL is focused on being an answer-oriented, technology and data-driven and adaptable company and community partner. WGL’s portfolio, in addition to its long history of distributing natural gas, includes power, renewable energy platforms such as wind and solar, growing investment in future innovations like resilient, reliable micro-grid and distributed energy projects and investments in midstream natural gas pipeline assets.

“Our diversity of offerings allows WGL to provide the best answers for your questions, issues and energy needs. Our tools, platforms and experts are backed by technology and customer resources you can trust. We deliver sustainable value by becoming trusted partners with our customers,” added Dr. Louis J. Hutchinson, III, Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of WGL.

In FY2014, WGL added three states where it owns and manages distributed generation assets – Indiana, Minnesota and New York; completed a 2.6 megawatt project that will provide clean and efficient energy to Santa Clara County, Ca., in partnership with Bloom Energy; established a financing model that makes solar power more accessible to business, municipalities, residents and school systems; entered into a long-term relationship with GAIL Global, a subsidiary of GAIL India, for the sale of up to 430,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas for a term of approximately 20 years; secured a landmark contract to provide power to the vast majority of federal departments and agencies in the District of Columbia for 18 months, and all federal buildings in Maryland for two years; invested $410 million in the Central Penn Pipeline as part of Transco’s Atlantic Sunrise Project; and added 13,000 new gas distribution customers in the Washington, metropolitan area, a 5-year high.

Throughout the transformation, the company continues to place a high priority on being a supportive community partner and to finding ways to give back to the cities and states in which it operates. Because WGL’s employees are the foundation of this transformation, significant changes were made internally as well, including the creation of a new intranet and the rollout of a streamlined sales strategy. Externally, the new logo, tagline and design will serve to underscore WGL’s dedication to providing easy energy solutions to customers large and small, across the U.S. and through international partnerships.
