Over the past few weeks, Westfield UK employees have been assisting those affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

As a major community hub within the area, Westfield London, its retailers and Westfield UK employees have been supporting emergency services who were onsite, whilst liaising with the local authorities and Lancaster West Residents Association to establish the immediate needs of those affected and how they could assist.

There was an overwhelming response from customers, local residents and retailers wanting to show support, and together with them, Westfield worked on a number of initiatives to respond to the tragedy.

Westfield and a number of retailers ensured emergency service staff including police, firefighters and ambulance staff had enough food and water supplies to assist their teams onsite and also offered a temporary accommodation base for emergency services at the centre. A number of restaurants offered free meals for those affected.

On the day of the incident, Westfield helped to set up a drop off point within Westfield London where a large number of items were donated by customers, retailers and residents including clothing, food, medical supplies, blankets, children's items, phones and chargers. Westfield employees also visited local community centres to drop off items as well as providing boxes for storage to create much-needed floor space for accommodation.

Westfield London has made a donation directly to The Kensington and Chelsea Foundation Grenfell Tower appeal. The team is also running in-centre fundraising collections to raise money for those affected and have already seen a very generous response from customers.
