VTB Bank Austria successfully arranged EUR 220mn long-term financing for the leading Slovenian electricity producer and trader Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE). HSE is the largest state-owned power generation company in the local market with revenue of EUR 1.3bn.

VTB has been mandated alongside a syndicate of leading international banks, including BNP Paribas, Raiffeisen Bank, Unicredit and Slovenian NLB Bank.

Riccardo Orcel, Deputy CEO of VTB Group and Head of VTB International, noted: 'The financing arranged by VTB has allowed the company to extend its maturity profile and meet HSE Group's refinancing objectives set for this year. This transaction further strengthened VTB's presence in Slovenia and the wider CEE region, one of our strategic markets. Currently we are very active in the region with projects in Romania, Macedonia, Serbia and Croatia, and look forward to expanding our relationships with local clients through leveraging our EM expertise'.

CEE is one of the important international markets for VTB where the bank has a busy deal pipeline. For example, last year VTB successfully refinanced Slovenian ACH Group with a five-year EUR 72mn loan. ACH is an investment holding company with exposure to the recreational vehicle industry, hospitality, car distribution business, real estate and IT.
