LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- GameTrailers.com, the premier video destination for gaming entertainment and information, has announced the winners of its 2010 "Game of the Year Awards." Honoring the industry's accomplishments for the past year, one winner was selected from five nominees in over 30 distinct categories. Electronic Arts led the awards with multiple honors for "Mass Effect 2," winning Best Role-Playing Game, Best Story, Best PC Game, Best Xbox 360 Game, Best Single-Player Campaign and Game of the Year.

"With Microsoft and Sony jumping into the motion control market in 2010 with Kinect and Move respectively, it's somewhat surprising that most of the biggest games from 2010 use traditional control methods," said Shane Satterfield, editor-in-chief, GameTrailers.com. "That said, we applaud the industry at large for providing one of the most well-rounded software lineups in recent memory. From huge blockbusters to inventive download-only games, there was truly something for everyone in 2010."

The expert editorial staff at GameTrailers selected the winners out of 160 total nominees across all platforms and genres. For the platform-specific awards, all the nominees and winners were selected based upon the best games available for that platform -- regardless of whether they were exclusive to that platform.
