Airline Earns Praise for Creating Exceptional Opportunities for Women

TEMPE, Ariz., March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --US Airways (NYSE: LCC) today was named as a recipient of the Top 25 Workplaces for Womenaward by az magazine for creating one of the best workplaces for women in Arizona. The carrier earned praise from a panel of judges for the percentage of women in leadership positions, programs and practices that demonstrate a commitment to hiring and retaining women and for providing a family-friendly work environment.

The objective of az magazine's Top 25 Workplaces for Women in Arizonaprogram is to identify a list of Arizona's best workplaces for women that empower leadership, diversity and innovation for women.

US Airways excelled in the percentage of women in management positions and the percentage of female employees in Arizona. More than 45 percent of the carriers' Arizonaemployees are women, and more than 40 percent hold management positions, including six at the corporate officer level. In addition, two of the airline's nine Board seats are currently filled by women.

Today's award complements two other employer recognition awards recently earned by US Airways. For the second year in a row, US Airways was the only airline named by LATINA Style magazine as one of the 50 best workplaces for Hispanic women, and earlier this year, The Phoenix Business Journal named Kerry Hester, senior vice president of operations planning and support, as a recipient of its 2012 Women In Business awards, which recognizes the top 25 women business leaders in Phoenix.
