Tyler Technologies, Inc. has signed a software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreement with the city of Amarillo, Texas, for Tyler’s EnerGov™ and Munis® solutions. The city of Amarillo had been using a combination of in-house and vendor-provided software solutions for their licensing, permitting, and utility billing functions. In an effort to implement best practices and enable transparency for its constituents, the city sought a comprehensive citizen services solution for land, permitting, licensing, code, public works, billing, vital records, and cashiering management. Amarillo also required a solution that had an excellent platform for open government, allowing citizens access to information and tools at their convenience. The city of Amarillo ultimately chose Tyler because it offered the best solutions to serve their constituents’ needs and it provides a platform that will allow for growth as the city continues on a path of constant improvement. The EnerGov solution will provide the city with permitting and inspections processing, as well as a citizen portal to expand access and transparency for residents, and Munis will improve communication across multiple departments. Amarillo’s citizens will benefit from the ease of access to real-time data through the city’s 3-1-1 initiatives by leveraging Tyler’s citizen-facing products, allowing for seamless coordination between various city departments and automated workflows to boost citizen access, customer service and communication. The solutions should provide numerous opportunities to gain efficiencies and reduce costs. The city of Amarillo chose to contract for a SaaS solution, rather than on-site hosting, to ensure the organization is always up to date with its systems.
