Tokyo, Japan / New Delhi, India, January 11, 2013 ---The Teijin Group, one of the world's leading suppliers of high-performance fiber, announced today its participation in Technotex 2013, India's premier exhibition of technical textiles, which will be held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India from January 17 to 19. Teijin's initial appearance in the show will highlight the group's expanding initiatives to develop the Indian market for high-performance materials.

The Teijin booth (Hall 6, Stand 11) will feature solutions incorporating aramid, carbon and polyester fibers for diverse applications in fields including protective wear, energy-savings and the environment.

Teijinconex meta-aramid for protective applications
Fire-resistant, flame-retardant meta-aramid Teijinconex is an excellent material for protective clothing worn by firefighters and factory workers. Teijin, which commands more than 60% of the Japanese market for heat- and flame-retardant protective apparel, is now expanding the global market, including in emerging economies, for this advanced material. India's increasingly strict standards for flame-retardant products and a heightening awareness of safety needs in the private sector are stimulating demand for high-performance heat- and flame-retardant protective apparel.

TENAX carbon fiber and composite for energy-saving applications
High-strength, high-elasticity carbon fibers TENAX filament, as well as textiles and prepregs used to manufacture composite materials and reinforced sheets, will be showcased. Teijin sees significant potential in India's carbon fiber composite market, especially for industrial applications such as construction reinforcement, industrial machinery and helmets, and other fields including aircraft and medical machinery.

High-performance polyester for eco-friendly home textile applications
Teijin will present examples of enhanced living through high-performance, environmentally friendly materials for mattresses, cushions and pillows. These include elk, a urethane-alternative polyester cushioning material, and V-Lap, a vertically lapped nonwoven fabric, both of which are recyclable and produce no toxic gas when burned.

NANOFRONT high-strength polyester nanofiber boasts excellent frictional properties and soft texture for a range of applications, including gloves used in the sport of cricket.

The Teijin Group, which established a locally incorporated company in New Delhi in 2007, is developing markets in Indian industries including automobiles and railcars, electronics, infrastructure, new energy and healthcare.

Technotex 2013, which is being jointly organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Textiles, is expected to attract more than 200 exhibitors.
