Vienna/Warsaw - The European construction technology group STRABAG has received another major order in Poland. The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways, GDDKiA, has awarded the construction of a further section of the S19 expressway over approx. 14 km to the Polish STRABAG subsidiary STRABAG Sp. z o.o.

The order will be realized in 42 months as a Design&Build project and is a further expansion step of the European transport axis Via Carpatia, which will connect Klaip?da in Lithuania with Thessaloniki in Greece. The project comprises two planning phases: approx. 7.5 km of new route and a further 6.2 km as an extension of the right lane of the Mi?dzyrzec Podlaski bypass as part of the second construction phase of the bypass.

The construction includes the renewal of two junctions, six civil engineering structures, including several culverts for animals and amphibians, two rest areas as well as other technical infrastructure and devices for environmental protection. On the section of the Mi?dzyrzec Podlaski bypass road, which will be extended with another lane, a railway overpass and noise barriers will be built.
