SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) _ Sterling Bancorp Inc. (SBT) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $14 million.

The bank, based in Southfield, Michigan, said it had earnings of 28 cents per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $45.6 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $32.3 million, topping Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported profit of $57 million, or $1.11 per share. Revenue was reported as $132.4 million.

Sterling Bancorp shares have fallen 5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $7.68, a decline of 13% in the last 12 months.
