SouthGobi Resources Ltd. announced operating results for the three months and year ended December 31, 2013. For the three months, the company reported raw coal production of 1.73 million tonnes. Sales volumes SouthGobi premium semi-soft coking coal was 0.21 million tonnes against 0.03 million tonnes a year ago. SouthGobi standard semi-soft coking coal was 1.40 million tonnes. Thermal coal production was 0.1 million tonnes1. Total production was 1.72 million tonnes against 0.03 million tonnes a year ago.

For the year, the company reported raw coal production of 3.06 million tonnes against 1.33 million tonnes a year ago. Sales volumes SouthGobi premium semi-soft coking coal was 0.54 million tonnes against 0.78 million tonnes a year ago. SouthGobi standard semi-soft coking coal was 2.27 million tonnes against 0.47 million tonnes a year ago. Thermal coal production was 0.45 million tonnes against 0.73 million tonnes a year ago. Total production was 3.26 million tonnes against 1.98 million tonnes a year ago.

The company expected sales volume in the first quarter of 2014 to decrease compared to the fourth quarter of 2013. The rate of production in the first quarter of 2014 will be paced to meet contracted sales tonnages.
