Sharp Corporation is set to post a roughly JPY 100 billion ($1.28 billion) group loss for the April-June quarter, as the firm faces restructuring charges, weak solar panel and flat-screen television businesses and other problems. Such a loss, which would include a special charge of about JPY 16 billion tied to an LCD cartel settlement, would mark a more than doubling of its year-earlier JPY 49.2 billion net loss. Sharp would probably cut its full-year guidance, which already calls for JPY 30 billion loss in the 12 months to next March. Sharp is currently considering its first large-scale job cuts worldwide.
