Rovi Advanced Guide Available on New Toshiba L7200 Cinema Series and L6200 Series LED 3D TVs to Enable Streamlined Discovery of Digital Content from Multiple Sources

LAS VEGAS, (CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW 2012) - 1/10/2012 - Today Rovi Corporation (NASDAQ: ROVI) and Toshiba Corporation will demonstrate how Rovi TotalGuide is helping Toshiba bring a cutting-edge search and discovery experience on Toshiba's new line of L7200 Cinema Series as well as the L6200 Series LED 3D premium Smart TVs, for the U.S. market. Rovi TotalGuide will be branded Toshiba MediaGuide in the U.S. Rovi TotalGuide combines Rovi entertainment data and rich media, TV listings, and sophisticated search and discovery technologies to enable Toshiba to offer one centralized interface for consumers to find digital content of all types. Rovi TotalGuide is also expected to be introduced on select models of Toshiba Smart TVs in Europe later this year.

The new Internet-connected Toshiba TVs provide access to over-the-top content in addition to broadcast programming. With Rovi TotalGuide, Toshiba will be able to deliver its customers the ability to easily navigate from one content element to another across linear and on-demand offerings, a key aspect of Rovi's "six degrees" media discovery experience. Rovi TotalGuide is powered by Rovi data that includes deep, descriptive information on actors, TV shows and movies as well as enhanced imagery and links to over 2.5 million TV program descriptions, 120,000 celebrity profiles, and a searchable database on TV shows since 1960.

"Consumers today are embracing the Smart TV as it brings more digital entertainment options than ever before into the living room, and with this, intelligent search across content types has become imperative to an enjoyable experience," said Scott Ramirez, vice president of product marketing and development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. "The integration of Rovi's data into the new Toshiba MediaGuide on our 2012 line of Smart TVs uniquely provides sophisticated capabilities that allow us to simplify the ability for our customers to discover new movies and programs across TV listings and video-on-demand offerings, making it easy for them to sift through choices regardless of the source."

"Toshiba and Rovi are aligned with a common purpose of engaging consumers with advanced entertainment features that provide a robust viewing experience that begins first and foremost with TotalGuide as they search for what to watch on TV," said Matt Milne, senior vice president of CE sales, Rovi Corporation. "Our collaboration with Toshiba brings continued innovation in today's dynamic marketplace and helps streamline the content discovery experience as consumers immerse themselves in the multitude of content options."

Today's announcement is based on the licensing agreement between Rovi and Toshiba announced in July of 2011. Toshiba's L7200 Cinema Series and L6200 Series LED 3D TVs are planned to be made available in the second quarter in North America.
