Ralink’s 802.11n USB Technology Selected for Market-Leading Business Class Tablet PC from Fujitsu

Advanced Wireless Network Management and Security Features from Ralink Chip Technology Makes Fujitsu’s New Business Class Tablet PC a Leader in Enterprise Mobile Computing

COMPUTEX, Taipei, Taiwan, June 1, 2011 – Ralink Technology Corporation (TAIEX 3534, Ralink), a leading developer of high performance wired and wireless networking solutions, today announced that its RT3572 line of single-chip, 2T2R dual-band 802.11n USB Wi-Fi chips, has been selected for implementation in the Fujitsu STYLISTIC Q550, a business-class tablet PC designed for enterprise users.

Fujitsu’s STYLISTIC Q550 is a mobile solution first which is designed to meet the needs of high-end, large-scale enterprises. Growth in the use of consumer-oriented mobile networking devices such as smartphones and consumer tablet PCs by businesses has made security and network management a nightmare for large enterprises. Fujitsu’s STYLISTIC Q550 lets employees enjoy the convenience and the productivity enhancing features of mobile computing, while supporting business best-practice in wireless security and maintaining maximum interoperability with business environments.

The driving force behind the STYLISTIC Q550’s enterprise focus is Ralink’s wireless technology. Ralink is recognized in the industry for its success in delivering the highest throughput, range, and reliability. This time Ralink raises standards for consumers by providing advanced security and networking management features all at the same speed and quality that Ralink is known for. Ralink’s RT3572 chipset operates in the high speed 802.11n 40 MHz channel bandwidth with support for business class security and networking management features such as Cisco CCX V5 (Cisco Compatible Extensions Program Version 5) compliance and Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). This not only allows a rapid “connect & go” for a simple and secure out-of-the-box experience, but saves time and available battery life on tablet PCs in a high density enterprise environment. Seamless connectivity becomes possible through the inclusion of WLAN, Bluetooth and optional mobile broadband 3G/UMTS, enabling collaboration such as the sharing of documents while on the move. The RT3572 comes with wireless multimedia capabilities for prioritized quality of service (WMM and WMM-PS). It also incorporates a variety of leading-edge radio and baseband processing techniques to improve wireless range and reliability including Maximum Likelihood Detection (MLD) and Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC).

“Among all the Wi-Fi vendors Fujitsu evaluated, we chose Ralink because they were able to offer a solution that was most closely aligned to our business requirements. They were willing to listen to us and in the end they brought to the table a technology solution that was clearly the superior choice.” said Susumu Nikawa, General Manager of Fujitsu Limited’s Personal Systems Business Unit. “We are pleased to make Ralink our choice in supplying a sector-defining Wi-Fi solution to the fast growing and dynamic mobile PC market.”
