UNIGROUP'S PARTICIPATION IN PRIVATE PLACEMENT IS APPROVED BY SHAREHOLDERS OF POWERTECH TECHNOLOGY INC.

HSINCHU, Taiwan, January 15, 2016 - Powertech Technology Inc. (Powertech) (TaiEx: 6239), a leading global outsourced assembly and test services provider, today held an extraordinary shareholders meeting in Hsinchu, Taiwan, at which the proposal inviting Tsinghua Unigroup Ltd. ("Unigroup") to participate in a private placement of common shares of Powertech was approved. Both Powertech and Unigroup appreciated for the support of Powertech's shareholders. Approvals from Investment Commission, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan and other relevant authorities are also required to complete this private placement.
