On July 3, 2017, the Board of Directors of PharmaCyte Biotech, Inc. appointed Michael M. Abecassis, M.D. to the Board to fill a vacancy created by the departure of certain members of the Board in October 2014. Dr. Abecassis is the Director of the Comprehensive Transplant Center of the Feinberg School of Medicine. He is also the Chief of Transplant Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Feinberg and a James Roscoe Miller Distinguished Professor of Medicine at Feinberg.
PharmaCyte Biotech, Inc. is a biotechnology company. It is focused on developing cellular therapies for cancer, diabetes, and malignant ascites based upon a cellulose-based live cell encapsulation technology known as Cell-in-a-Box. Its product candidate is referred to as CypCaps. The Cell-in-a-Box encapsulation technology potentially enables genetically engineered live human cells to be used to produce various biologically active molecules.
