Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Otsu, Shiga, Japan; President: Akira Kishimoto; "NEG") will install a mega solar power generation system at its Shiga-Takatsuki Plant (Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture) and start full-scale operation on April 1, 2023. The system will be equipped with approximately 5,000 solar panels and is expected to generate approximately 3,700 MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the annual power consumption of approximately 860 average households. The CO₂ emissions reduction effect of this system will be approximately 1,600 t-CO₂ per year.
NEG has prepared an action plan for reducing CO₂ emissions and is promoting various initiatives in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The installation of the mega solar system is part of these initiatives. NEG is also promoting the installation of solar systems at its group companies.
NEG will continue to contribute to curbing global warming by systematically installing solar systems at various locations at its business sites, and by procuring renewable energy sources to replace a portion of the electricity used at its business sites with renewable energy.
