LINCOLN, Neb.1/06/2016

LINCOLN, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Free online access to the official published judicial opinions of the Nebraska Supreme Court and Nebraska Court of Appeals became available to the public on January 1, 2016.

Previously, appellate court opinions were printed or were available online through various for-profit subscription services. All published opinions are now provided through the Nebraska Appellate Courts Online Library at ne.gov/go/opinions. Once printing of judicial opinions in the Nebraska Advance Sheets and the decisions of the Nebraska Court of Appeals ceases in June 2016, opinions will be available exclusively online.

'Creating channels to make government more accessible to the constituents of Nebraska is our goal,' stated Brent Hoffman, general manager of Nebraska Interactive. 'We are thrilled to be part of the solution to make this information readily available.'

Opinions dating back to 1871 will be searchable online for the Nebraska Supreme Court, while the full collection of opinions from the Nebraska Court of Appeals will also be offered beginning in 1992 when the court was established.

Newly released opinions of both courts will continue to be available for 90 days on the Nebraska Judicial Branch website and from the Clerk of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals upon request.

The online library will be accessible 24/7 using smart phones, tablets or computers from anywhere with Internet access.
