Doha-based Al Rayan Investment (ARI) has won the 2015 'Qatar Equities Manager of the Year' award from highly respected Global Investor/ISF. Global Investor/ISF is a Euromoney publication covering the global asset management industry.

The magazine hosted the 2015 Middle East Capital Markets Summit and Awards in Dubai on Wednesday 28 October 2015 where over a hundred leaders of the regional asset management industry were present as Al Rayan Investment scooped the prize. The award was judged by an independent panel of experienced industry experts who commended Al Rayan Investment on the strength of its track record and quality of investor returns.

'We are honoured to receive recognition from our peers and are proud to be Qatar's leading manager for equities. This award is a testimony to the strength of our investment philosophy and processes,' commented Haithem Katerji, Chief Investment Officer of Al Rayan Investment. Katerji added, 'We thank all our clients for their continued support.'

The award is another milestone for Al Rayan Investment which has steadily grown to be one of the larger Islamic asset managers in MENA, managing more than QAR 3.5 billion in client investments. This includes Al Rayan GCC Fund, the largest mutual fund based in Qatar. Over the last 3 years, till end-September 2015, the fund is up 33% in sharp contrast to the S&P GCC Shariah index down 4% over the same period. The fund is open to individual and institutional investors of all nationalities, living within Qatar or outside.

Earlier in 2015, MENA Fund Manager magazine also named ARI as 'Qatar asset manager of the year' while Kuala Lumpur based Islamic Finance News named Al Rayan Investment as 'Best Islamic Asset Management Company in the Middle East'.

Akber Khan, Senior Director of asset management at Al Rayan Investment explained, 'being one of the few asset managers in the region with expertise in both listed equities and fixed income enables us to seize opportunities across asset classes for the benefit of all our investors. The team is delighted to once again receive this acknowledgement and remains committed to provide a good performance for our investors.'

Al Rayan Investment has been mandated by Masraf Al Rayan to be the fund manager of the upcoming Shari'a-compliant Qatar equity ETF, which is currently under incorporation.
