Macy's (NYSE:M) continues to show its love for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement and will commemorate American Heart Month with the annual Wear Red Sale, a collection of exclusive red dresses designed to benefit the cause, red-inspired in-store events, and a heartfelt social media campaign. As a founding national sponsor of the movement, Macy's has raised more than $28 million for Go Red in the fight against heart disease. Building on the success of last year's "Go Red Dress" by I·N·C International Concepts®, American Heart Month in 2012 will prove to be more fashionable than ever with the addition of exclusive red dresses from Alfani, Charter Club and I·N·C. The red dresses will be available in select stores and at macys.com in time to celebrate National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.

"At Macy's, we stay committed to the cause and take our role as national sponsor of the Go Red movement to heart. From the in-store experience with exclusive fashions and events, to social media campaigns, we are always striving for fresh and innovative ways to raise funds and to motivate and educate our customers and associates on the importance of heart-healthy lifestyles," says Martine Reardon, Macy's executive vice president of Marketing. "Since 2004, we have raised over $28 million for the American Heart Association, helping to fund their life-saving research and raise awareness amongst women of this life-threatening disease."

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. Currently, some eight million women in the U.S. are living with heart disease, yet only one in six American women believes that heart disease is her greatest health threat. In 2004, Macy's announced its national sponsorship of the Go Red For Womenmovement and its commitment to educating customers about heart disease and its affects on women. Since then, Macy's has continued to raise funds to support educational efforts and breakthrough research by the American Heart Association.

Each year, Macy's reinforces its dedication to this cause by implementing new and exciting in-store events, on-line promotions and offering Go Red-themed merchandise to motivate women to get serious about making healthy choices to prevent heart disease. This year's program is more diverse and directed toward reaching women in every aspect of their lives.

"For nine consecutive years, Macy's has remained committed to AHA's mission through continued support of the Go Red For Women movement," said William H. Roach Jr., Chairman of the Board of the American Heart Association. "We're grateful for Macy's financial contributions and nationwide activation, which have allowed Go Red For Women not only to uncover the truth about heart disease, but also to become the difference between life and death for many women."

And the Beat Goes On

Macy's has helped the American Heart Association bring awareness to this movement, which speaks directly to women of diverse cultures and ethnicities. In 2008, the Macy's Go Red For Women Multicultural Fund was created to specifically educate, promote and distribute good heart-health information to African-American and Hispanic women. The Fund's goal is to reach these women through broadcast and print vehicles, as well as support education through the Multicultural Scholarship Fund. To date, Go Red For Women and Macy's have worked with "Selecciones" magazine, Word Network TV and Radio One Inc. to produce grassroots events, public service announcements and literature to ensure their respective audiences are well informed.
