Eon Broadcasting Pty. Ltd. is believed to be the preferred bidder for Macquarie Media Limited's (ASX:MRN) easy listening Sydney radio station Radio 2CH Pty Ltd., operated by ad baron John Singleton, after lodging a $5.5 million bid. Glenn Wheatley of EON declined to comment but the announcement could be made next week, with a change of ownership finalised by mid-January. It’s understood EON’s offer was accepted despite a higher bid of $5.75m from WIN Corporation Pty Limited. Other interested parties included regional radio group Grant Broadcasters Pty. Ltd., and the NSW Council of Churches.
