DEVON, Pa., Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Global consulting and expert witness firm LECG (Nasdaq: XPRT) is pleased to announce the promotion of Eric Poer to the post of managing director in its San Francisco office.

Mr. Poer is a veteran litigation consultant, financial analyst and market researcher. Prior to joining LECG as a principal in 2005, he served in senior manager, financial advisor and auditor capacities with firms including Bates Private Capital Inc., KPMG, Arthur Andersen and UBS PaineWebber.

Mr. Poer has extensive experience in accounting, finance, and the securities industry, where he has lead dispute consulting and forensic investigations, in addition to extensive experience providing expert witness testimony in more than 30 litigation matters.

On the forensic accounting front, Mr. Poer's recent work has included a deep-dive investigation on behalf of the Oregon State Board of Accountancy into allegations of professional misconduct by accountants and CPA firms in the state. Additional recent engagements have included investigations of a CEO's travel and entertainment expenses at an alternative energy company, an investigation into the taxation of employee sales incentives at a commodities trading company and a forensic accounting investigation into possible improper vendor payments at a Fortune 500 semiconductor company.

In addition to his professional work, Mr. Poer serves the community through organizations across the West Coast. He is a finance committee member of New Avenues for Youth in Portland, Ore. and a member of the forensic accounting advisory board for Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He also serves as a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Silicon Valley Campaign for Legal Services.

Mr. Poer is a certified public accountant, a certified fraud examiner, and he is certified in financial forensics. He is a 1997 graduate of Indiana University at Bloomington.
