To address HSE issues KuibyshevAzot PJSC implements a set of measures, which are efficiency-proven based on the particular results of environmental impact reduction, retrofitting of existing production units and leveraging of modern technologies.

In relation to environmental impact matters, KuibyshevAzot actively participates in a dialogue with all interested parties by interacting with the expert community, environmental non-government organizations and citizens. Company's work in this direction was recognized at the federal level, and for the third consecutive year, according to the Interfax-ERA rating agency, KuibyshevAzot PJSC has been recognized as the leader of environmental transparency among the chemical industry enterprises.

In 2018, KuibyshevAzot PJSC implemented several environmental projects at its production site.

To reduce the environmental impact Company introduced a unit for preparation and regulation of gaseous ammonia supply to weak nitric acid units; commissioned a sanitary column to exclude accidental ammonia emissions from the weak nitric acid units and liquid ammonia storage. In addition, a local sewage treatment faciltiies (nitro-denitrification unit) have been partially retrofitted.

Company allocated 8.5 billion rubles for development of the enterprise and introduction of modern resource-saving technologies, with the environmental and industrial safety level, corresponding to the best world analogues, as well as the modernization of existing facilities.

In 2018, the project with a significant environmental effect was launched. A new ammonium nitrate granulation plant will be built instead of two existing ones. This will allow reducing emissions into the atmosphere by 200 tons per year. The cost of the project is 3 billion rubles.

The construction of storm water sewage treatment facilities for the enterprises of the Northern industrial hub and part of Central District of Togliatti is in progress. This project with investments of more than 1 billion rubles is included in the priority federal program 'Preservation and prevention of pollution of the Volga river'.

The Company is constantly monitoring compliance with environmental safety requirements and production control. In 2018, the sanitary laboratory of KuibyshevAzot PJSC carried out about 38 thousand analyzes of the emissions composition, air quality and wastewater of various categories.

With the increase of the finished products volume in 2018 by 17%, emissions into the atmosphere decreased by 1% and accounted for 40% of the allowed level. Specific emissions decreased by 15.6%, effluents generation - by 8.6%, consumption of river water per ton of products - by 10.9%, heat energy - by 8.3%.

Total for the period 2000 - 2018 with an increase in the volume of finished products by 2.4 times, a decrease in chemically polluted effluents by 1.7 times was recorded, specific emissions, electricity consumption per ton of products and river water - by 1.8 times, and also heat energy - by 1.6 times.
