Koninklijke Brill NV (ENXTAM:BRILL) reached an agreement to acquire the activities of Hes & De Graaf Publishers B.V. on December 27, 2013. Hes & De Graaf Publishers B.V. reported revenues of €0.5 million in 2012. The transaction is expected to close on January 1, 2014.

Koninklijke Brill NV is a Netherlands-based academic publishing house. The Company publishes books in printed and electronic format, journals, reference works in print and online, and primary source materials, such as pre-modern archival documents, Oriental manuscripts, art sales catalogues and contemporary human rights reports. The Company's publications focus on the Humanities, Law and Science, covering such areas, as African and American studies, art and architecture, Asian studies, Biblical studies, philosophy, social sciences, human rights and humanitarian law, international law, international relations and biology, among others. The Company's customers include academic institutions and libraries. As of December 31, 2011, the Companyâs two largest shareholders were Kempen Oranje Participaties NV (19%) and Otterbrabant Beheer BV (7%). In April 2014, it signed a letter of intent to acquire the entire share capital of Editions Rodopi BV, an Amsterdam-based publisher of books.
