Networkfleet, a leader in wireless fleet management, today announced that it has been chosen by the City of Atlanta's Department of Watershed Management (DWM) to increase the efficient use of DWM service vehicles. The Networkfleet GPS fleet tracking system will assist the DWM in improving driver productivity, reducing operating costs, and enhancing safety and security.

The DWM will implement Networkfleet on 529 fleet vehicles, including those used in customer service, operations, and heavy-duty service and maintenance trucks. After a competitive RFP process, Networkfleet was selected primarily because of these unique capabilities:

  • Monitoring vehicle usage and accountability
  • Measuring MPG and idle time
  • Improving security and customer service
  • Providing historical data and route optimization
  • Achieving overall asset management

"We chose Networkfleet over others because it is a GSA provider that completely satisfied the requirements of our business needs," said Janet Ward, director of communications, Department of Watershed Management. "We also received excellent feedback from other Networkfleet government customers, who assured us that the system would help us effectively manage our fleet."

"Networkfleet has in-depth experience in working with government fleets and understands the unique requirements for accountability and cost savings," said Keith Schneider, president and CEO of Networkfleet, Inc. "With shrinking government budgets, the public sector is looking to create a new fleet management paradigm, to totally transform their operations. Networkfleet has assisted in such a transformation for many government entities, and looks forward to helping Atlanta do the same."
