GVK EMRI condoles the sad demise of its Chairman Emeritus, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam

Dr. GVK Reddy and the Board of Directors of GVK EMRI today condoled the passing away of their
Chairman Emeritus, Bharat Ratna, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
Dr. Kalam was associated with the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute since August
16th 2007, and consented to become the Chairman Emeritus since September 2012.
While expressing his condolences, Dr. GVK Reddy said that, "Dr Kalam had strongly advocated the need and necessity of a life saving service like 108, and had been a great source of inspiration to all EMRI-tes. Dr Kalam always encouraged the use of technology in the business of saving lives. He would strongly encourage global standards of care through partnerships with Stanford and other international organizations in the implementation of evidence based Emergency Medical Services (EMS) protocol in pre- hospital situations.
"He had been propagating the need of 108 GVK EMRI services in the rest of the SAARC nations and other developing countries. He would regularly visit the GVK EMRI offices in most of the operating states. Dr Kalam took a very keen interest in the work of 108 services in the North-East and many a times would say that, "saving a life is the greatest help one can do in this world", Dr. GVK Reddy added.
Mr K. Krishnam Raju- Director GVK EMRI, said that, "The GVK EMRI Board used to brief Dr Kalam at regular intervals on the progress made, and used to seek his constant guidance. He often used to enquire about the expansion of services to different parts of the country, and the progress made by leveraging technology in the 108 Emergency Response Center. Dr Kalam used to listen to EMTs and Pilots who work in ambulances, about their experiences in services which demanded going beyond the call of duty, and appreciated them whole heartedly," he added.
