Villepinte (France), January 19, 2021 (18:00 CET) - Gaïa-Index, a subsidiary of EthiFinance and a leader in the ESG (environmental, social and governance) rating of listed French mid-caps, has ranked Guerbet the best company in the healthcare category for the second year running. This year Guerbet moved up 2 places in the rankings and figures among the top 10 companies with a turnover above 500 million euros.

In terms of overall ranking, Guerbet scored 83, marking an increase of 3 points from last year and positioning the company 13th out of 230 SMEs and mid-caps, up one place compared to the previous year.

Both rankings have improved versus 2019, attesting to the maturity and transparency of Guerbet's ESG policy as well as the efforts the company has invested in this area.

Gaïa Rating has been conducting its annual data collection campaign since 2009. It involves most of the listed SMEs in France. It rates companies for their transparency and performance based on this information and attributes scores according to 174 criteria (economic performance, governance, human capital, environmental strategy and stakeholders), which leading management companies then use in their management processes and investment decisions. Every year since its inception, this index has outperformed the CAC 40 and the CAC Mid & Small.

'We are proud of these results. It is a recognition of our teams' commitments to our CSR objectives. Guerbet's progression in these rankings will increase the company's visibility among investors. Our CSR approach is a key pillar of our strategy, a real driver of our overall performance and a differentiator,' said David Hale, CEO of Guerbet.

Guerbet builds its CSR approach around four pillars, with key objectives and actions planned between now and 2023.

  • Imaging products and services to improve patient prognosis and quality of life
  • A responsible social policy, broken down into five main themes: diversity, prevention, recognition, commitment and accountability
  • An HSE policy that gives absolute priority to human safety and aims to minimize environmental impacts at all levels
  • Business ethics in line with the fight against corruption, prevention of conflicts of interest, anti-competitive practices and respect for the medical code of ethics.

In terms of governance, Guerbet has substantially improved its position about business ethics and CSR policy, with support from the highest levels of the organization. One of Guerbet's great strengths remains its governance body.

Guerbet's labor policy score has improved in relation to skills development, and its social policy rates among the best.

Concerning the environment, Guerbet owes its good results to its management of water and energy resources and waste control.

Regarding stakeholders, the score considers actions taken by Guerbet to improve its responsible purchasing policy, its quality culture and its cybersecurity initiatives.

The CDP* also recognized Guerbet's CSR performance in December 2020 by attributing the company an A- rating for its climate questionnaire, while the CAHPP** green index has granted an A++ quality rating.

*CDP: formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project, is a global non-profit organization that singles out the world's most active companies in the fight against climate change.

**CAHPP: Centrale d'achats de l'hospitalisation publique et privée is a French group purchasing organization supporting 3,300 hospitals (public & private) in their responsible purchases with the Green Index system.
