Salesforce ExactTarget Marketing Cloud Finds Capital One, UPS, Reese's, Burger King and Buffalo Wild Wings also Lead Social Stream

INDIANAPOLIS(April 7, 2014) - AT&T, the Exclusive Wireless Partner of NCAA March Madness, is poised to be the most mentioned brand in association with social mentions of March Madness, NCAA and Final Four, according to the ExactTarget Marketing Cloud from salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM).

Monitoring more than one billion sources including Facebook, Twitter, forums, mainstream news, videos, comments, images and more, Radian6 from ExactTarget Marketing Cloud tracked total mentions of official sponsor brand names and Twitter handles alongside "March Madness," "NCAA" and "Final Four."

"There were many upsets on the court this year, but not as many when it came to marketing," said Mike Lazerow, ExactTarget Marketing Cloud chief marketing officer. "The large brands which launched marketing campaigns around the big dance were also the most mentioned on social media. Smart brands understand you need to publish content where customers are hanging out, and not only publish, but understand what content is working and why."

The top ten brands mentioned most include the following:

AT&T participated as a sponsor for March Madness with the NCAA and Turner Broadcasting, buying ads for tweets sent from @MarchMadness. Focusing on educating customers on their network capabilities, AT&T also launched commercials around "Better Network" to coincide with March Madness. AT&T also sponsored the NCAAMarch Madness Live appfor live-streaming tournament games.

The naming of the top March Madness brand winners follows the launch of the ExactTarget Marketing Cloud's joint research report with Deloitte,Bridging the Digital Divide: How CMOs Can Rise to Meet Five Expanding Expectations. Based on a survey of 228 global marketing leaders, the study found more than half of global marketing leaders believe they have greater responsibility today for revenue growth and 61 percent rated data acquisition as a top priority.
