New Brand Symbolizes the Company's Singular Focus on Transforming Connected Home Entertainment

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today officially launched its new brand identity, inclusive of a refreshed corporate logo, evolved message platform, re-designed Web site, and a more vibrant corporate color palette and image scheme combination.

The updated brand identity represents a significant shift in Entropic's overall vision, look and message. The Company felt an updated brand was important to unify its global organization since making two transformative acquisitions in 2012.

The corporate logo has been modernized to reflect the newly integrated Company, yet maintains the integrity of key elements within its original logo such as the curved symbol, which is illustrative of the entropy curve from which the Company's name is derived. The new logo adds dimension and motion to the previous logo symbol, reflecting the Company's ability to move video and other multimedia content into and throughout the home and on the go. The logotype is upright and powerful, underscoring the strength in the Company, its global team and its product portfolio. Entropic also moved to a more energetic color palette indicative of the vibrancy within the connected home industry, and employed a master-brand circuitry theme to emphasize the role Entropic plays in powering connected home entertainment with its silicon and software solutions.

Under the new brand identity, the Company dropped "Communications" from its name in all new marketing communications programs. This deliberate move showcases that in a world of converged devices, markets and offerings, Entropic is focused on serving the connected home entertainment market.

"Since growing through acquisition, we required a stronger brand identity to distinctly communicate Entropic's integrated focus, singular vision for delivering platform semiconductor solutions and dedication to instilling confidence in a unified product roadmap," said Chris Fallon, senior director, Corporate Communications, Entropic. "We believe the new brand identity and logo tightly blends Entropic's global resources and further strengthens the Company on its mission to transform the way digital home entertainment is delivered, connected and consumed."

The previous logo and brand guidelines served the Company for more than a decade. During that period, Entropic expanded its portfolio and evolved into the only pure-play platform semiconductor company in connected home entertainment. Today, Entropic transforms the way digital entertainment is delivered and distributed into and throughout the home with its direct broadcast satellite (DBS) outdoor unit (ODU) and Broadband Access silicon solutions; addresses how content is connected within the home via MoCA® (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) silicon and software; and enables the secure consumption of media in the home through world-class system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology and transcoding-partnered solutions.

An evolution brand video can be viewed on the Company's YouTube page and the full story of the Company evolution can be found on its newly designed Web site in the corporate profile section. For this rebrand initiative, Entropic worked in close collaboration with creative partner Promar Designs, based in San Diego, Calif.
