The European Commission has approved the creation of a joint venture between Hazwei, a subsidiary of the German-based E.ON Group, and EDF Deutschland.

The joint venture, Hypion Motion Neumünster, will be active in the purchase of hydrogen and its resale at a filling station to be developed, located in Neumünster, Germany.

Hazwei is active in the energy networks sector, particularly in electricity and gas.

EDF Deutschland, a subsidiary of the French-based Electricité de France ('EDF') group, is active mainly in the electricity and gas sectors.

The Commission concluded that the proposed merger would not raise competition concerns, given its very limited impact on market structure.
