DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq:DTSI), the leader in high definition audio, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Free, a premier supplier of Internet, telecom, and television products and solutions, to integrate DTS surround sound technologies into Free's forthcoming Digital Media Player products. The Freebox devices will launch in January 2011 into the French market and will include DTS Digital Surround processing for an unparalleled home audio experience across multiple platforms.

"DTS teamed up with Free to make an immersive surround sound experience a reality for today's platform-agnostic consumer, tapping the latest IPTV services, network-enabled PCs, HDTVs and smartphones," says Brian Towne, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at DTS, Inc. "As the convergence of broadcast and telecom evolves, DTS is continuing to expand its footprint in this growing ecosystem by delivering the finest audio experience possible – across all delivery platforms. Collaborating with a dynamic and progressive company like Free is a natural step for us."

"As Free continues to provide a complete package of internet, telephone and IPTV services offering access to hundreds of TV and movie channels across France and other countries, the incorporation of DTS Digital Surround technology into our hardware allows us to offer a clearly differentiated service adding great value for end users," says Sebastien Boutruche, General Manager at Freebox SAS. "This partnership with DTS is an exciting progression in today's content delivery marketplace. The flexibility of the technology also ensures that we can continue to offer more features and high performance in the future."

The integration of DTS technology into Freebox products is the latest milestone in the growth of DTS, a company that is quickly becoming a household name in the HD entertainment space. This momentum, coupled with its growing adoption in other multimedia areas, further solidifies DTS' position as a leading provider of high performance audio.
