Nissan Motor Co. plans to cooperate with DeNA Co. to develop and commercialize driverless vehicles.

Nissan and DeNA will conduct tests aimed at developing driverless vehicles for commercial services. The first phase of testing using electric vehicles will begin this year in Japan. DeNA has already been testing technologies aimed at commercializing driverless taxis and buses.

Nissan, which has been developing autonomous driving technology, expects the partnership with DeNA, which has know-how in translating technologies into commercial services, to generate synergistic benefits. The system, developed from NASA technology, will enable the early practical use and dissemination of autonomous vehicles.
