Singapore-based DBS Bank Ltd. is working with Singapore's Government Technology Agency to begin testing the SingPass face verification technology system which promises to simplify customer onboarding and attract new digital banking customers.

Using SingPass, DBS can match a customer's facial image with the government's biometric database but does not collect or store user data, according to a Crowd Fund Insider report.

DBS will launch a pilot targeting over one million SingPass clients who may or may not be using the latest digital banking services. Around 60% are senior citizens, aged 62 or older.

"Amid one of the greatest disruptions ever witnessed in our time, we are more cognizant than ever about the importance of leveraging digital technology to quickly serve up solutions that benefit the wider public," Jeremy Soo, head of consumer banking group at DBS Bank, told Crowd Fund Insider.
